Front YJ Kit Instructions:

Start off by checking to see if all of your parts are in the box. Make sure that you have all the nuts and bolts to do the job. This installation can be completed with basic hand tools. A welder would be a plus. Completing this installation in one day should be no problem. I recommend that you test fit everything before painting and final assembly. All of the nuts and bolts on the moving suspension parts should be tightened while the vehicle is at rest. Let's get to work.

* To get started, jack the Samurai up and securely place it on jack stands. Make sure that it will be high enough off the ground to install your new stuff, it is going to hang much lower.

* Remove the tires and wheels. Place a jack under the axle to support it while you remove the old leaf springs, shackles, shocks, bumper and drive shaft.

* If you do not need to completely remove the axle you can do one side at a time. This makes supporting the axle housing easier and keeps it close to where it needs to be.

* Once you have the old stuff off you can mock up your new stuff. Install the rear bracket with the two bolts that go where the old original rear spring mounting bolt went through. This will allow you to mark the new holes that you will need to drill to install the new bracket. Remove and drill the new holes.

* After drilling the new holes you should install the bracket completely.

* Assemble the missing link shackle and attach it to the stock front mount. At this point, you can install the YJ springs. It should look something like this:

* Now, install the front bump stop for the missing link shackle. This goes on the end of the frame. You will need to remove the stock tow hooks, if they are still there. The bump stop brackets will bolt into those holes. Two of the metal sleeves will go on each side. Install all of this and make sure that it will all fit. This is where the welder comes in handy. The metal sleeves can be welded in once you make sure that it will all fit right. I would recommend welding them, but I think you could get away without dong it.

* Other things that you may need to address are: brake hoses, shocks and mounts, and bump stops. All of these will be custom installs and will vary by vehicle. Remember to recheck all you bolts after a few miles.

You may use this kit to install Wrangler springs in either a spring over or under application. Various other suspension modifications will affect installation of the Wrangler conversion, and the installer should double check to make sure the Wrangler kit will fit his or her application. Modification of the kit will void returns. This kit is a rear only application.

Rear YJ Kit Instructions:

First you must support your vehicle in the proper manner, we leave this up to the installer. Next, you will remove your rear springs and rear shackles, inspect your frame bushing and Wrangler spring bushing for wear, replace if needed. Install front solid spring hanger on your frame, test fitting to be sure spring hanger on your frame is straight and if needed, straighten them. You will need to drill the stock spring hole to ½ inch. If needed we supply self tapping screws to help secure the hanger to the frame. You may choose to omit these in the installation. The front of the hanger use’s 3/8ths bolts to secure it to the Samurai frame, you will need to clamp the mount in position and drill these holes after installing the short ½ inch bolts in the stock spring location. Once 3/8ths bolt are installed you may tighten the short ½ inch bolts. Your front hanger is now installed.
Next you will install the rear shackles, small end on the frame, larger end on the spring. You may now install the Wrangler spring with the 9/16ths bushing sleeve in the rear, ½ inch in the front. You will next install the rear axle, using new wider spring plates to install with your factory u-bolts. If u-bolts show signs of wear, replace with quality aftermarket units. Tighten all hardware, install longer shocks and brake lines if needed, check drive line for enough spline engagement.

Go wheeling!
