88-97 GM 36.5 Spring Center Solid Axle Conversion Hanger

$ 399.00

Part Number: CHEVY-SAS-002
Many people have asked when we planned on doing a Chevy solid axle swap, having seen our other various solid axle swaps from Toyota, Nissan, Suzuki etc. Well, here it is!

Part # Chevy-SAS-002 Price $399, 36.5 wide spring perch kit.
This is a kit that will add 6 inch's of lift over your springs size, so 12" springs nets 18" lift. Current kit can be positioned to almost any height up to 6 inch by moving rear shackle hangers up the frame and re drilling front spring eye. 3/4 and 1 ton frames will require minor trimming of front hanger due to frame cross member that is not removable like a 1/2 ton. Below are a few shots of the process. Also check the picture section for more info on installation.

Chevy/GMC 88-97 Solid Axle Conversion Hanger kit.

Use's Chevy 4x4 lift 73-87 era 47" front springs. Hangers can be pushed forward and back to stretch spring length needed to run 52 inch rear springs. You will need to fabricate 4 3/8ths spacers for the front leaf hanger to run the narrower springs. Kit is bolt on for positioning is desired, final install will require full welding.Exhaust modifications may be needed.

The 36.5 width spring perch kit ( SAS-002 ) will only fit the 39.5 Chevy frame.

This kit will not work with the cheap 99-04 Ford Super Duty axle. The reason is, that these axles are 37.5 spring pin width axles. The frame on all Chevy trucks is too narrow inside to hang the shackle hanger, and shackle, and get enough off set safely to match the leaf springs. Using a Chevy 2.5 wide plus bushings, 3.625 over all width, you would need a frame rail ID of 44.75. With off set shackles and hangers we can get a 39.5 frame to 41.5.

We do have a kit to use the 99-04 Ford Super duty axle under the Chevy truck platform. See CHEVY-SAS-SD. This kit is slightly more involved but uses a Toyota style sas shackle hanger.

General Install length with a lift and proper tools cutting no corners is 35-40 hours. This is not re gearing the axles or and fine tuning or rear lift options

Note: A good starting point for spring hanger eye to eye measurements is 46". This is a minimum length.

This kit will allow the use of a 86-97 Ford Dana 60 high pinion front axle. Kit will work with either a king pin or ball joint style axle. We have steering kit options available for both axles. These axles are much easier to locate than the earlier Ford 31.5 center Dana 60 axles. This kit will only work with 2.5 wide after market springs with a 3.625 bushing width, no stocker's, as you will need to machine down the rear spring bushings to a 3 inch over all width, and use our provided spacer in the shackle to get the correct 36.5 spring center. Upper shackle hanger bolt on the rear shackle hanger will need to be test fit and cut down as needed to fit hanger to frame tolerance.
Kit is not available in separate parts at this time due to limited production quantities.

Kit is still a 6 inch+spring lift... For example: If you have 6 inch springs, and our kit, you will net 12 inch's of lift.
This will vary slightly with huge winch bumpers/winch combo's, big block all steel engines, and Exo-cages.

For those using our 36.5 wide perch width Sas-002 hanger kit,check our ball joint Dana 60 crossover steering conversion in the Ford Steering section if using a 93-97 Ford Dana 60 axle.
