80-97 Ford Over The Top Track Bar conversion for 05+ Coil Swap

Sky's

OTTER

"Over The Top Extendable Rod"

With Sky's Adjustable Track Bar, you can adjust the axle side to side from stock height up to 12" of lift.  This also eliminates the wear prone Super Duty ball joint style connection at the axle with our billet hiem joint cup.

What this means is significantly better track bar geometry for 4–12" lifts. (Options for lift heights available below).

With Sky's CNC machined billet steel hiem cup, we substitute a vertically mounted 7/8" chrome moly heim joint secured with grade 8 hardware, for the conventional ball joint at the axle. The hiem cup is a 2 piece unit, with a large upper bracket to en-capsule the joint, and a massive inset washer for the retainer on the base secured with grade 8 hardware. On the frame side we use a USA made polyurethane bushing to dampen road vibrations. This point uses factory sized grade 8 hardware. The bar itself is a .250 wall threaded DOM bar on the hiem side, with a special machined tig welded bushing plug on the frame side.

Installation is fairly simple. The hardest part is removing the factory joint in the axle. These are pressed in, much like Sky's hiem cup will need to be, and can take some heat to remove. And a large hammer or a pin press if you happen to work in the large equipment field. Once the factory joint is removed, you install the new hiem cup with the bracket upwards for 4" plus lifts, retain factory location, down, for lifts under 4". Use the short bolt that is installed from Sky's to retain the bracket, torque to 225ft pounds. Install the machine threaded bar ( no weld bungs ) with the hiem at the axle, poly bushing in the frame bracket. Use the supplied bolt and aircraft nut on the base hiem side, as there is no pull on this bolt it and it uses a specifically designed lock nut, it does not need to be exceptionally tight. torque to 110 ft pounds. The frame side bolt is the factory Ford bolt, torque to 160 ft pounds. Use red thread locker on everything that has threads!

The OTTER bar is designed specifically to clear the engine cross-member on OBS vehicles, engine cradle modifications should not be needed if using all Sky's parts. Using other companies products or wrecking yard parts will be responsibility of the installer.

Perfect!

This was just what I needed get the panhard to work on my coil swap. With 4" coils the stock panhard would not reach and the other bars we looked at are designed for a super duty not an OBS. Plus this is the only one I found that does away with that ball joint thing.
Thanks!

Doesn’t fit up to 12in lift

Bought it for my swap with a 8in lift and it’s way to short and doesn’t fit great into the bracket it it was a struggle so now I’m out almost $600 on a trac bar that doesn’t fit really disappointed

We made a bit of an update to this and made the bar for 7'+ lift longer to ensure proper thread engagement.
