Front and rear hangers can be pushed(moved) forward and back to stretch spring length needed to run 52 inch rear springs. Apr 2" ea direction. The rear spring bushings are not as wide as the front spring bushings so a 3/8" per side spacer is used when using rears up front.
Note: SAS-001 kit will work with the newer Chevy 98-08 platform as well as long as you are using either a 78-79 Ford Dana 44 or Dana 60, or Chevy Dana 44 or Dana 60. Chevy axle will require swapping the transfer case to a passenger output.
Frame must be a 39.5 inner rail width. Modification of the shackle hangers is likely, we do not cover these mods.
Kit is based on 73-87 Chevy front 47 inch leaf springs with a 3 3/4 wide over all width. Some aftermarket springs are narrower and will require a spacer of some variety to make fit correctly. If you are interested in using the 52 inch Chevy rear springs, you will simply lengthen the hangers front to rear to fit them. These springs will require a 3/8ths shim per side to fit correctly in our hangers as they are only 3" wide.
This kit will not work with the 99-04 Ford Super Duty axle. The reason is, that these axles are 37.5 spring pin width axles. The frame on all Chevy trucks is too narrow inside to hang the shackle hanger, and shackle, and get enough off set safely to match the leaf springs. Using a Chevy 2.5 wide plus bushings, 3.625 over all width, you would need a frame rail ID of 44.75. With off set shackles and hangers we can get a 39.5 frame to 41.5.
We do have a kit to use the 99-04 Ford Super duty axle under the Chevy truck platform. See CHEVY-SAS-SD. This kit is slightly more involved but uses a Toyota style sas shackle hanger.
Due to the hangers being weld on you can use them on either a 2wd or 4 wd 88-08 pickup.
Chevy militia web site forum has some good info as well as Colorado k-5 forum on installation of various spring combinations.
Note: Suburban may require relocation of rear ac lines hanging outside front body mount.
General Install length with a lift and proper tools cutting no corners is 35-40 hours. This is not re gearing the axles or and fine tuning or rear lift options
Note: A good starting point for spring hanger eye to eye measurements is 46". This is a minimum length.
**Please refer to the diagram/picture above on where to properly measure the INSIDE of your frame.
For those using a Corp 14 from a donor truck we also offer the conversion parts needed above as an option. Spring pads, plates, and u bolts to move perch's out to match the 88-newer Chevy width.
